There’s nothing quite like the feel of a good workout — whether that’s the satisfaction of knowing you’re helping your body, the burn of the muscles, or the runner’s high. It’s why programs like Crossfit, P90X, and Weight Watchers have gained so much traction. We all want to do what’s right for our bodies and eat well.

But what happens when exercise and nutrition are doing more harm than good? Ladies, you can end up delaying or skipping your period altogether. Is that so bad? After all, what woman LIKES her period? This week on A Different Perspective, Dr. Patrick Flynn, D.C., answers these questions and more.

  • Amenorrhea — is it really worth being worried about? Does skipping or delaying your period produce concerns in areas other than fertility?
  • Temperature-dependent glycemic index of carbohydrates: There’s a reason why certain foods have to be heated up in order to receive the most nutrient benefit: After all, heating and cooling foods adjusts some of the chemical make-up. Doc walks us through how that can be used to our benefit.
  • Different exercises for different sexes: Biologically, men and women are different, and both should work out in different ways to keep their bodies healthy. Doc covers these differences and even how women need to exercise differently during certain weeks out of the month to support health more efficiently.
