Pros and Cons of the Carnivore Diet

Pros and Cons of the Carnivore Diet

January 20, 2024

People will swear by this or that diet to lose weight or get healthy. One of these is the carnivore diet. Is this truly the best way to eat? Does it get you all the nutrients you need? This week, on A Different Perspective, Doc breaks down the carnivore diet benefits as well as carnivore diet drawbacks. These include:

  • There aren’t a lot of studies done on it – is this truly a count against it?
  • Eating carnivore is a great form of an elimination diet – does this help your health? What are some elimination diet advantages and drawbacks?
  • Nutritional analysis of the carnivore diet: what vitamins and minerals can the carnivore diet be lacking in – and what foods can fill in to supply them? Alternatively, why does eating a carnivore diet make it easier to get essential proteins?
  • Why is leucine important, and what’s the easiest way to get enough of it?

Doc explains that his view on the carnivore diet is the same as medical testing – it’s incomplete. How do you adapt the carnivore diet for complete health? Doc suggests the carnivore-ish+ diet. What does that mean, and why?

Doc also covers a few supplements – like echinacea. Many tout this supplement as being great for the immune system. Doc challenges his viewers in asking why – why is it that we link echinacea and immune health?
