Approach to Mental Health

If you have been diagnosed with depression, odds are you have been told there is nothing you can do, but take anti-depressants for the rest of your life. Nothing could be further from the truth. Instead of calling it mental health, let’s call it brain health. When you do that, it becomes easier to see how the rest of your body influences your mind. Everything from your thyroid to your GI tract can influence and be influenced by your brain health. When you truly understand what mental health is, you can learn how to start taking control over it.

Have you felt dismissed by your loved ones or medical professional? Were you left feeling isolated and hopeless?

According to NAMI, 21% of US adults experienced mental illness in 2020. 1 in 6 children ages 6-17 are diagnosed each year. Sadly, mental health issues continue to rise.

Did you know?
10,000 nerves travel from the gut to the brain, while only 12 nerves go from the brain to the gut. Medical professionals focus on serotonin when it comes to depression. Yet, 90% of our serotonin (our happy chemical) is in our gut! Mental illness can be debilitating, but you don’t have to face it alone.
