In today’s society, we’re far removed from the rituals and habits of our early ancestors. Throughout most of human history, it was widespread practice to consume animals from nose to tail for health and longevity benefits. Our ancestors believed that eating organs from healthy animals would help to strengthen and support those same organs.

For instance, if someone had thyroid issues, they’d eat thyroid. If they had heart problems, they’d eat heart. And the list goes on. In the modern world, many Americans consider this uncivilized and disgusting, even though some cultures still follow this practice. However, because of our views, we constantly struggle to fulfill our nutritional needs and are riddled with various chronic conditions.

Knowing most people would prefer not to eat organ meats, The Wellness Way has developed organ-based supplements to help solve this dilemma. These supplements are sourced exclusively in New Zealand, the world’s leader in pasture-raised, grass-fed, and grass-finished animals. Because of their strict livestock regulations, the quality of these glandulars is second to none.

The Female Glandular supplement bottle with description

The Wellness Way glandulars are free of hormones, pesticides, antibiotics, and genetically engineered ingredients. A crucial step in the production process is freeze-drying, which helps to preserve nutrient value. Every batch is third-party tested for quality and purity.

Unless noted, these supplements can be taken at any time of day, with or without food. However, those with especially sensitive stomachs may prefer to take them with food.

Nutrition Standards

Having healthy animal sources of these glandulars is critical. Animals following their traditional grass-based diet will have a better nutrient profile than those eating modern diets of corn and soy.

The Wellness Way glandulars are:

  • Pasture-raised, grass-fed, and grass-finished in New Zealand
  • Freeze-dried for optimal nutrient benefits
  • Third-party tested for purity
  • Free of hormones, pesticides, antibiotics, and GMOs (genetically modified organisms)
  • No fillers or flow agents (starches, stearates, silica, etc.)
  • Allergen-free

Not only are the animals raised in a healthy manner, but the supplement manufacturing process is designed for the best possible nutrient delivery and purity.

Why Ovary?

Whether cycling or in menopause, every female will benefit from healthy ovarian tissue. Ovary glandular has protein, vitamins, and other nutrients, including:

  • Peptides, enzymes, and cofactors to support ovarian function.
  • Pre-formed vitamin A (retinol) to support immune health

Menopause coincides with a decline in ovarian function and a subsequent decrease in hormone production. However, post-menopausal women still need hormones for normal function! If hormone levels fall too low, adding healthy ovarian tissue can be just the thing to jump-start healthy levels. If you’ve had your ovaries removed, you need direct ovarian support.

Taking ovary may also provide:

  • Support for post-hysterectomy and other causes of low hormones
  • Support for menstrual irregularities, including heavy bleeding and cramps
  • Fertility support through nourishing the ovaries and promoting regular ovulation

Ovary tissue efficacy is enhanced by the addition of liver tissue to this supplement. Liver adds supportive nutrients for healing, including bioavailable iron, needed for tissue oxygenation.

Why Liver?

Looking for the most nutrient-dense food on the planet but can’t handle the thought of eating it? Instead of eating 8 ounces of beef liver each week, consider adding daily beef liver capsules! Liver is packed with proteins, vitamins, and nutrients, including the following:

  • Pre-formed vitamin A
  • Vitamin B12
  • Folate
  • Choline
  • CoQ10
  • Iron (specifically heme iron, the most bio-available form, leading to better absorption).

Eating liver helps to support growth and repair throughout the body. It’s excellent for those looking to support a healthier liver in general and is a must for anyone suffering from anemia (low iron or ferritin).

One of the common concerns people have about eating beef liver is the risk of toxicity since the liver is known as a detox organ. However, the good news is this is a common misconception about eating liver. While the liver does play a critical role in the filtration of toxins, it doesn’t store them. Therefore, it’s perfectly safe to consume. The liver does store nutrients, vitamins, and minerals, as noted above.

Here’s a run-down of liver’s benefits:

  • The most nutrient-dense food on the planet! High in Vitamin A, B12, folate, choline, CoQ10, iron, zinc, copper, and many others.
  • Promotes collagen synthesis and bone health
  • Supports methylation and overall liver health
  • Supports hair, skin, and nail health
  • Provides anemia support
  • Supports heart and brain health

You can see why Dr. Patrick Flynn considers liver to be nature’s multivitamin!

The Female Glandular May Help

While it’s not known exactly how glandulars work, it’s a fact that they do work. The current theory or understanding is that when organs are damaged, cellular debris enters the bloodstream and creates an immune response. In some cases, this leads to autoimmune conditions, as the immune system begins to attack the already damaged organ(s).

Taking organ glandulars seems to neutralize this process, stopping the destruction and supplying the nutrients needed for healing. Decades of using glandulars to address specific health concerns have shown that consuming organ tissue does indeed help those same organs in the human body. Female Glandular bottleTaking ovary and liver tissue in The Wellness Way Female Glandular may help to support those organs, restoring healthy function and supporting balanced hormones. Isn’t female glandular like “bio identical hormone replacement?…is this truly safe even After hormone estrogen positive fed Breast Cancer?? Hmmmmm…..

    • Betsy Schroeder says:

Hi Renae! That’s a common misconception because of medications like Armour, a natural alternative to Synthroid, for low thyroid. Armour has to be prescribed by an MD or NP because it does contain thyroid hormone. Glandulars are available direct-to-consumer because they don’t contain hormones. We encourage anyone concerned about a history of ER+ breast cancer to consult with their health practitioner about how best to support the body post-cancer.
